itsbob...we have seen human rights violations in many countries. Muslim, Buddhist, Christian and jewish included. That doesn't mean we automatically send over a battalion to (insert random country here) to be worldwide hall monitors. I don't believe we should get involved at all in civil wars, coups, and other internal affairs. We should treat them the same as we do North Korea; no formal relation, imposition of sanctions, and make them prove their human rights record before we give them any assistance at all. We have not held israel accountable for genocide of the Palestinians (where we should be more involved), yet we bow to the media's relentless pursuit to whip Americans into an Islamophobic frenzy and attack Iran (where we should be less involved).

You are correct, lives will be lost, as they are every day. Some in vain, some for their cause, some for their country, all for what they believe in. Who are we to impose our beliefs on Syrians, Egyptians, Pakistanis, etc, when we should have no involvement there in the first place?

But keep in mind that the only genocide that killed 20,000 thousand Palestinians was perpetrated by Jordanians in 1970. They expelled a lot more. Thus making a country with the Palestinian majority less so. Palestinians call it Black September. Arabs refer to it as "era of regrettable events." Present Jordanian King had to marry a Palestinian to improve and mend the relationship between the minority ruling class and with the majority (still) of Palestinian population in Jordan.


Can you name countries where Islam rules but freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and equal protection under the law prevails? Right! The silence is deafening.

Islamophobic frenzy is justified when you see how Islam intends to rule the world. Their treatment of Christians, Buddhists and other non believers is frightening...just like in Darfur.
