Neighborhood watch is a dangerous game

It just doesn't pay to try to keep your neighborhood quiet and safe anymore. If you do anything to keep the riff-raff out, you get charged with murder. If the riff-raff outnumber you, you die. Some choice, huh?

Darn shame. Is it because we, as a society, have become too afraid to stand up for what we believe or have we become overly dependent on the gov't (local, state, fed) to take care of us?

In this report, sounds like they shot her because she was nagging them.....guess the libs and dems are right, gun access and control laws are too lax. It couldn't possibly be the courts, libs and dems fault for having too lax of a penal system, could it?

...and if you leave the policing to the police, it's likely these sorts of things won't happen. WHat happened to this lady is really sad but I have to say that for a lone female to confront a group of dudes in a car is not the swiftist move.

Bad title but still a couple points can be taken here. Do you see ridiculous amounts of media attention? of course not. Are there riots nationally? nope.

Another point. The court and prison system need a little change. Sad part is all these thugs will be back out on the street. In prison they probably won't have to do any work. I knwo there are some prison that have people work but they all need to be like that. At least an 40 hour work week serving the community they have wronged. Also, enough releasing peopel so easily. I had a friend robbed by a guy who is 43 and has been in and out of jail since the age of 14 and keeps commiting robberies. There is a point where you have to realize someone can't be reformed and at elast shouldn't make probation.

I agree but some places the police don't want to be bothered. Like in my neighborhood. They don't want to know whats going on, don't care.

Its sad as you said that she was killed. The fact that the guy that shot her was on the street at all, probably the fault of the 'system'. I would love to know what his history is.

I think to holler "slow down" is a auto response in that type situation. Guess I'll reread link. I play fair, maybe I missed something, but I didn't get the sense she was really confrontational.
