| Link to original article. "Prince William last night led a rescue mission to save a 16-year-old girl who got into difficulties off the Welsh coast after being alerted by surfers. The Duke of Cambridge piloted the RAF Sea King helicopter while his colleagues winched the teenager to safety from the off Silver Bay, Anglesey. The schoolgirl, thought to be from Hertfordshire, had been trying to help her 13-year-old sister and both were taken to hospital in Bangor for a check-up. Flight Lt Wales was on duty when his crew was called out from the nearby Valley airbase. Two surfers waved and pointed to catch the rescuers' attention. After pulling the older girl aboard, the RAF team started searching for her younger sister before they were told she was safe on the shore. A rescuer said : "She had scrapes, was very cold, shocked and had swallowed water. She had been in serious difficulties and was very lucky." |
