| In my opinion, the majority of people that voted for Obama don't pay taxes. This is all just sickening, and hard to take. I hope Michelle and Barry are enjoying their sightseeing trip to Asia; which has no purpose, whatsoever, except sightseeing to the tune of millions of dollars. It is hard to stay optimistic and upbeat in the wake of Obama's re-election. I just hope it is not the wake before the funeral of the US. Hopefully, Congress will wake up. JMO

| Direct quote from my brother on this: "A government that spends more of what it does not have, and expects an ever shrinking workforce to cover the costs when they can't make ends meet for their own families, is a government that needs to put the crack pipe down..."

Got to remember to invest in beer and cigarette companies. During the next depression, that's what people will buy the most of and I could get rich. And the next depression is right around the corner.

| It's a way to collapse the system. It's a methodical way to put every American under the government's thumb. The people who are employed in this country is only a little over 50%. Put some added taxes and burdens and regulations on the corporation via healthcare laws and other regulations and taxes. That increases the unemployed. Have your buddies in the unions place additional pressure on businesses. That increases the unemployed. Make the tax burden so heavy that not everybody who is working can even afford to work anymore. That increases the unemployed. Who is left working? What are they doing? Begging the government to relieve their heavy burden. The government will. They will save you. It's a Marxist revolution from within the government. It's textbook. It's peaceful and without bloodshed and makes every person in this country dependent upon the government for their welfare. I just wish we'd hurry up and collapse already and get it over with. I'm tired and there isn't anybody going to do anything to stop it. The majority of Americans are sitting on the sidelines worshipping the adored one and see no problems - only the glorious end. The next group is keeping their head down like ostriches and pretending if they don't notice the spider then it won't catch them in its web. And the rest are like children with ADD - oh look shiny (Gen Petraeuos) - ohhh look shiny (trip to Asia) - ohhh look shiny (twinkies). There is only a slim minority of people left in the US who actually have their eyes open. And they are helpless to do anything about it. I have a friend in Greece who suggested I move to Greece, because it was surely better there than here. How frightening is that thought?

| Based on the replies to this thread, ignorance must be a requirement to be a conservative. Not one of you understands that the US tax system is progressive (that means not every dollar is taxes at your highest tax rate). Not one of you understands that the article at that started the thread is extremely misleading. You just slurp up anything put out by Fox News or The Blaze without question like a bunch of Pavlovian dogs. According to the US census, the median US household income is $50,054. Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2011 - Income & Wealth - Newsroom - U.S. Census Bureau The marginal tax rate for that level of income is 15%. not 25%. The 25% bracket does not start till a household crosses $70,000 of taxable income. Take that income and two exemptions and plug it into the 1040 tax calculator on bankrate.com. What effective tax rate do you get? 7.6% To this Ms Willis adds BOTH sides of FICA and FUTA. She even admits this is wrong, btu does it anyway. In reality, add the 7.6% to the 5.65% employee side of FICA/FUTA and you get a total federal tax of 13.65%. 25% BELOW what is stated in Ms. Willis' BS article. If you don't understand a topic, as all of you obviously do not, you really ought to keep your yaps shut. |

This is yet another towering failure of the economic party, the GOP. This nation is about we, the people, and ALL taxes should be paid by we, the people. Corporations should pay NOTHING. There should be no taxes on your phone bill. No property taxes. No payroll taxes. Each every eligible voter should get a bill, once a month, for the share of the cost of the government we've voted for and the portion our elected reps have decided is fair and the courts have agreed is fair. Then, and only then, will this truly be a nation of the people, for the people, by the people. All the rest is simply to obscure and hide the cost of the will of the people we elect and, presumably, trust to run our affairs.
