KS supports MD suit opposing CCW regs

Kansas supports suit opposing concealed-carry permit restrictions | Wichita Eagle

"Kansas has joined 13 other states in supporting the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment by agreeing that people don’t need to show why they want a permit to carry a concealed firearm."

But this does nothing to help US here in Maryland. For a long time now 'Good and substantial reason' is what is keeping us from being a shall-issue state.
Why? Paranoid Politicians. "Oh no.....if we make Maryland Shall-Issue, all Hell would break loose." "There would be more shootings and more murders if we made it easier for legal adults to get a permit to carry a weapon."
Never mind that it would eliminate having to wait for 5-O when there is a home invasion or a car jacking.

That's exactly what it does

Attorney General Derek Schmidt said Thursday he has added Kansas to a friend-of-the-court brief filed in the 4th U.S. Circuit of Appeals in Richmond, Va. The appellate court is reviewing a decision by a Maryland district court that struck down a Maryland requirement that a person must show a reason for needing a concealed permit before one is issued.

But doesn't that mean that the issue will just be tied up in court for God-knows-how-long; and then swept under the proverbial rug when enough time has passed? I've seen many times "Closed due to inaction" or something like that, when Shall-Issue hits the table and is not passed.

I don't think just anybody should be able to conceal a weapon.

It isn't just anybody - just good, law-abiding citizens that have no criminal background with no intent to do anything illegal.

Just to be able to protect themselves, their loved ones, and property from the many criminals (your anybodys?) that do illegally possess weapons and get away with it until, or if, they are caught.

Your pacifists view is what leads to so many criminal endeavors, knowing that the perps can usually get away with whatever they are doing.

If the court declares Maryland law to violate the constitution (as the lower courts have done), they'll give Maryland a certain amount of time to fix it or appeal it to the SC

Not just anybody can conceal carry in MD. It's pretty much limited to politician's body guards and felons that view you as an item on the buffet table that they can take any time they want

Pacifist view? Ok. Anybody law abiding citizen in Maryland can carry a firearm legally. Why do they need to hide it.
