Its a Christian thing, you might not understand.
You do not need to be Christian to understand the symbolism. I personally think that the whole idea of the cross is morbid and should not be celebrated. Why put the symbol of his death up on the day of his supposed birth? Why the chocolate crosses during Easter? I know some pretty great people that have died, you don't see their tombstones sitting on my end tables.

You would be wrong. Odd you profess to know so much about Christianity though, in my opinion you're one of the nastiest people on the forum. Maybe you should practice what you preach.

Last year, he was criticized for not having a Christmas tree in the White House Christmas card. This year, he's criticized for having too many Christmas trees.

King Obama's golf games and lavish vacations are as numerous as his Xmas trees. Another 4 years. I hope the US is still a democracy in 2016. JMO

Those trees were not paid for with "OUR" money. Each year, the White House Christmas decorations are paid for with private donations.

Are you absolutely sure about that? I have heard differently.

Since the days of Jackie Kennedy, a private foundation has handled fundraising and obtaining in-kind donations or obtaining items on-loan for the White House. The actual work of putting up and taking down Christmas decorations is all done by volunteers.
