They were there, and taking care of it, then the dog was shot. The dog suddenly became aggresive enough to shoot after staring at it for 5 minutes?

At least officer Waskiewicz got it right.
Wasn't the girl who had the dog on the pole animal control? Didn't seem like she had much control at all!

What now?

1. She needs a new job
2. Animal Control hiring practices need evaluating
3. How about one of the manly police officers grab the god damned pole instead of his gun.

Or...how about the person responsible for the dog be more responsible so they don't put these police officers at risk of being bitten by this animal.

So you at first want animal control, then when you find out they were there doing what they were supposed to do but couldn't get the job done, now you want them fired. Your a peach.

Yea, because dogs only escape from irresponsible people....right.

Give me a break. The dog wasn't even close to attacking or biting an officer.

Who's job is it to deal with loose animals? Animal Control. If you don't have the physical ability to deal with a large dog, then you shouldn't be working there. If you, as a police officer, are standingly idly by, for 5 minutes watching this dog do nothing aggressive, how can you be ok with yourself shooting it? How can you tell yourself you did the right thing by pulling your gun, and not helping the animal control officer.

I know I'm beating a dead horse asking you to admit a police officer did wrong.

It's not the officer's fault the dog escaped. Sure the dog didn't do anything aggresive for the first five minutes and neither did the cops. The cops didn't shoot the dog when it was calm, they shot it when it was out of control.

It's the officer's fault the dog is dead.

The dog had a rope around his neck, and tased! Did you except it to roll over so the cop could rub it's belly!?

This is no different than shooting a subject in cuffs, and you can, and will find every excuse not to blame the cop.

Betcha nothing happens to the cops. They were in the right and will be vindicated. Keep crying about how cops are bad. The majority of society disagrees with you.

Yea, I'm sure you'd be saying that if a civilian shot a police K9...

You are not comparing a K-9 officer to this dog are you? A K-9 is an officer of the law, just like a cop. I stated before, in another article you posted that pitbulls are considered dangerous dogs. Knowing this, if you own a pitbull and care about your dog, you dont allow it to run loose. You insure that it is secure and cannot escape when you are not home. Its called responsible pet ownership. I'm sorry if this was a family pet, but again, its the owners fault the dog is dead. And honestly, that rule applies to all dog owners, not everyone is going to love your dog like you do. If you dont take the precautions to make sure your dog is safe and sound, it lies with you if something happens.
