War on Christmas, part 549

Come to school dressed as Santa, get suspended!

That'll teach the little bugger!

Student

A student’s apparent innocent promise of a surprise at his high school left him surprised–when he was suspended.

The Georgia Crawford County High School sophomore John George III had planned to come to school dressed as Santa. He posted on his Facebook page "Students of cchs ur in for a big surprise tomorrow ." But someone who saw the post found it threatening–and called the police.

According to local station 13WMAZ, police said the teen’s mother confirmed that George had bought a Santa costume, and that he had told police that he and his friends planned to dress up as Santa and his elves–and hand out candy canes. He had even alerted a teacher to his idea.
Police investigated and found no cause for concern. But Crawford High School principal Mike Campbell was not convinced, saying he found the post disturbing. He had George suspended while the school investigates.

Good thing the principal wasn't armed.

Obviously, Mr. Campbell's underwear is too tight. Maybe, Santa will bring him some better fitting drawers for Christmas. What a jerk. Merry Christmas, John George; do not allow your Christmas spirit rights to be suppressed!

I don't see this as part of the War on Christmas.

I see it as part of the War on Common Sense.

What an idiot!

And this is one reason I don't believe teachers and school personnel should be armed. Like any other occupation, we have our share of idiots and an almost slavish regard for the "Peter Principle".

So, exactly what did this student learn from this? Watch your words? Maybe. Authority figures are hypervigilant and paranoid? Probably. Being creative and wanting to spread holiday cheer to others is a good thing? Probably not.

Damn shame...
