Remember Discussing Smart Meters?

And many of us were totally against it. Then we had the install discussion about the Energy Smart things SMECO was sticking on people's furnaces and attaching to their houses and in some cases, damaging siding and such? After all it's our home and SMECO has no "right" to install a anything on our property without permission, right?

That's not the case everywhere in the US.

Naperville smart meter arrest - chicagotribune.com

Excerpt:
Stahl, who was released from custody about 4:30 p.m., said when she refused the smart meter, installers accompanied by police cut the bicycle lock she had placed on her fence and entered her backyard. She then stood in front of her electric meter and refused to move.

“It was forced on my house today,” she said. “It was really a violation. I violated something, but I’ve been violated too so I guess we’re now in a society of violating one another.

-------

So I guess we don't have a say about our property.

There was an article in the past week or so in the Independent stating that SMECO was not going to be installing smart meters any time soon because a court case went against them in Maryland. Seems they cannot force you to accept a smart meter on your home.

BG&E put one on my house,
I called them and told them to come take it back off.
The old one was back on in just a matter of days.

not only that but once its in full force, the electrical signatures of the equipment in the home can be detected and used to determine when you are home or not, or in the shower or cooking, running the a/c and even if you have an alarm system that is set or not.

but, besides all that, obama and owemalley think they are a good idea, so they have to be bad for the country.
Bann and BOP like this.

As for figuring out what is on in your house, the meter is not going to stop that. As long as you are on the grid, your device has a signature. If you are that darn important, then they will figure out away to get you.

I think they will figure out ways to charge you more for peak usage times and less in non-peak usage times.

I would rather have some computer reading my meter than some stranger stopping by and casing my house every month.

So far the only valid point as to why not I seen so far is that Obama and O'Malley are supporting it.
From the points you make, I would surmise you also believe the mileage tax is a good idea too.

Sounds like some of the meters are defective and can cause fires. I would be more concern about your credit card, internet provider and cable company about collecting person info than the electric company.

exactly, my understanding is the purpose of this it simply allows the meter to report info back to HQ so they do not have to send a driver out to physical read a meter. You'll always have the choice of having it installed or not however those homes that don't have it installed will pay a service call fee to have your meter read eventually on top of your electric bill.

No. No I'm not. Two different conversations. But with both, the majority agreed they were both bad.

Should I have typed "AND" for you?

Or can you not understand we on this forum had two different conversations based on the same thing?

No business should have the right to install anything on your property without your permission.

Do a search and find your own answer. I'm not your search engine. The whole thing has been covered before.

I only posted the tread because it pertains to previous discussion topics and now it's a matter of your personal property rights not about the meters anymore.

Really could you be any more ignorant? First you saying I'm the one confused and now you want me to come to your computer and click "search" for you. I swear, next I'm going to find out you are on Match.com and are a murder.

I'm starting to thing the idiots on here are multiplying. Annoying as crap.
