According to a story by the CBC, the 50-year Canadian man was denied entry to the United States this week because of a conviction for possession of two grams of marijuana over 30 years ago.

I'm sorry, but I seem to recollect Marijuana in any quantity was illegal in 1981. In fact, it was illegal in all the states of the United States at that time. Possession of Marijuana is still illegal in the United States. So why should this doper feel he's entitled to come into the country today?

I have already said i can sleep better tonight knowing that joke of an organization called DHS kept this terrorist out of our country. Hopefully all the rest of DHS is down in NO tonight looking for people with 2 grams of pot, that is a real good thing for them to be doing. Where do you define who may come in who stays out? Put it in terms of black and white and define what past transgressions of the law are OK to be, shall we say, overlooked and which ones are to be considered not OK.

I understand your basic issue and to some extent I agree with you. But rules are written to be followed:

Obviously allow him into the country and assassinate him, the terrorist, so he can't commit this kind of crime against America again and we will all be safer.

Reverse the situation. 30 years ago most of you were probably minors, under 18. You get arrested for underage drinking. That is against the law, right? You made a dumb mistake as a kid.

30 years later as an adult, you've grown up, you know better, you have a family and kids and a good job. And you get stopped at the Canadian border trying to take you family to Niagara Falls because of something that happened 30 years ago.

A statue of limitations should apply.

Alcohol isn't now and wasn't then a controlled substance, marijuana has always been.
