Beautiful...

Travelers soon could be forced to arrive at the airport many hours before their flight to deal with an expected logjam at TSA checkpoints brought on by automatic budget cuts set to go into effect March 1 -- if Congress and President Obama cannot reach a deficit-reduction deal.

According to recent warnings, the D.C.-imposed travel nightmare could include longer waits at security checkpoints, customs and even on the tarmac if the across-the-board budget cuts hit.

Washington in the past several days has become deeply entrenched in a partisan blame game over the issue. The heightened rhetoric, which comes as Congress is out for the week, signals how little is being done to actually avert the cuts and how increasingly likely it is they will take hold in one week.

At least civil service travel won't be too much affected since it has been virtually cut off.

If the sequester deadline hits March 1, the cuts that would affect TSA and other public service functions of the Government will not become apparent until Mid April because of rules for the Government to notify employees and actually cut the orders. During that gap the public will not see any real change in the services and start to think - "This ain't so bad". Whether Congress will get anything meaningful done is a toss up. I would not be surprised to see them kick down road to a later date. That just means that the cuts would be more drastic to meant the sequester requirement before Oct. 1.

Most likely they will shift this whole incredibly wasteful "dance" to FY-14 which begins Oct. 1 and we start all over again.

It wouldn't bother me in the least if the TSA were to cash it in permenantly, the could take the rest of homeland security along with them.

Complete and utter BS. These various agencies randomly WASTE more than 2% of their budgets every year; how would they even know sequestration cuts had even occurred??

Why is it that Clinton was "forced" to accept even larger reductions in gummint spending and the economy boomed afterwards?
