North Dakota has a requirement for the teaching of State history. The lesson of Judge Davies and his Little Rock decision is part of that required course which is taught in the 8th grade. The other part of the lesson is that a Republican President had to send a Republican Justice Department to a Republican Judge in North Dakota to get the order signed because he couldn't find one East of the Mississippi to get the job done. Johnson learned his civil rights lessons from the Eisenhower administration.

I learned about Judge Davies while attending a country school in North Dakota. My children learned the same lessons when they went to school.

Just because schools on the East Coast don't teach history other than in its revisionist form doesn't mean the rest of the states do.

Now what kind of back water wannabe urban hypocritical prejudiced self important arrogant ass wants to question real country education and compare what someone in North Dakota may have learned to that which isn't taught anywhere else in this country?

There is an undercurrent of neo and old nazis in Grand Forks, things bubble up every couple of years (things like 'hitlers birthday celebrations'). Davies was a lawyer and federal judge in Grand Forks, the courthouse is named after him. The connection between the two is not that far fetched.

As dumb teenagers these days can't do dumb stuff without blathering about it on facebook, I would like to see their FB pages to get an idea what flavor of stupid made them do it. Chances are, it's just run of the mill 'ignorant stupid' and not 'malicious stupid' or 'political extremist stupid'.

No black people. Come on, you know there are some. I would bet at least 1 in 100.

There is no "under current" of Nazis in Grand Forks. That is crap spun up because one man, Ralph Englestad, a Nevada multimillionaire from Minnesota, a college hockey fan, and donor to the University of North Dakota was an obsessive collector of Nazi memorabilia.

There is absolutely NO connection between Englestad and Judge Davies.

The morons with the hoods were simply making a derogatory statement about Davies' high and its namesake. And, yes they knew what they were doing and the historical context of the statement.

Grand Forks has been the home of one of the largest Air Force Bases in the U.S. It is within a few hours drive of Winnepeg in one direction and Minneapolis in another. It has a very diverse ethnic makeup.

Bet you didn't learn about the Civil Rights Act which was introduced by Eisenhower but voted against by all the Southern Dems including Johnson. Bet you didn't learn about Eisenhower, Judge Davies, and Orval Faubus and exactly HOW the Little Rock action went down.

I honestly could not tell you if I did. There are very few things that stood out to me enough to remember. The KKK and the Holocaust were the two that I do remember.

I'll wager that the way these historical events were presented were a lot different in MD than in NC. So it depends on which school system you were in when that was part of the curriculum. Once the NEA obtains the national curriculum, all God's chirren will learn the same left-leaning 'facts' in school.
