| The girls graduate in two years. I hope to move out west (Arizona for example) after that time.

Either criminals would stay in jail for life; or be released on "good behavior." NAHHH!! WE don't need a way to make it easier for us to protect ourselves;ie; better CCW acquisition procedures; not if they are going to possibly let the bad guys out on "good behavior." They've been reformed.

| ...its not like they have been using it... Since 1953 there has only been 12 executed. Since 1923 there has been 85 executions in the state, but 45 happened in the 1940's.

| I'm with the last two posters. I'd be staunchly for the death penalty if it was an effective deterent, or even if not, if it was being used in a swift manner. In Maryland..the death penalty is meaningless and an unecessary added expense and complication for our jails and legal system both. Since a death sentence in Maryland is, in effect, nothing but a life sentence with lots of extra costs and complications heaped on top, I have no problem, really, with the largely symbolic liberal gesture that the abolishment of the death penalty would be. Liberals seem to really love useless symbolic gestures that masquerade as effective governance. Like an assault weapons ban..as another example.
