We’ve discussed this elsewhere and one of my favorites was to make it a spectator sport using a gallows 50 or so feet tall and a piano-wire noose at the end of 15 feet of rope. Have the gallows ringed at various ranges and marked off in azimuth and allow betting for where the head first hits the ground. I think it would make a hit on pay-per-view.

I must agree with Ken on this issue. To those who say we shouldn't have the option to declare who is to die and who is to live, look at it another way:

As a society, we protect ourselves, we police ourselves and we enact laws that spell out a consequence, or punishment for those who would wantonly bring death to the house of a fellow human being.

Since the dawn of the age of man, society has seen fit to "weed out" those who do not take life seriously.

The Old Testament termed it "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth".
The PC crowd and wussy liberals are of another opinion: fine, when someone kills a loved one of theirs, let's hear from them again.

You know what's even funnier about this idea? A few years back, the ACLU brought suit against a prison in Alabama, I think(one of the southern states) for requiring inmates to work on a "chaingang", they called it "cruel and inhuman punishment". Imagine that!

What would they do if we tried to reinstate public hanging?

It means Terminate but Stay Resident. In other words it has probably embedded itself into your browser and will run even though you have uninstalled the program.

I just realized I have 2 pop up blockers, and uninstalled the one, but not the other. I just changed the settings on the default one. :phew: That was close...

And thank you, but unfortunately I must spread the wealth before hitting you again.
