Why does MD have a death sentence?

What is the use of a death sentence if you don't have the balls to use it?

Man Sentenced To Life Without Parole In Maryland Detective's Death

Raymond Saunders, 24, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2002 first degree murder of Detective Thomas Newman, who was shot nine times in retaliation for testimony the officer had given against Saunders' half brother. Saunders, who faced a possible death sentence, also agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and a handgun charge.

I have a very personal case that was the death sentence and because of the murderer's "abused" childhood has turned into life WITH the possibility of parole and credit for time served. As warped as this guy is, the chances are great that he will do it again to some innocent old lady.

Liberal law makers, liberal prosecutors, liberal press. We have a chance to change all this, but Baltimore will do their normal thing as will Montgomery and P.G. counties.

I'm kinda torn on the death penalty. I can only speak theoretically, because (thank God) I have never had any experience with a crime so heinous as to deserve it. I don't think we should get to choose who lives or dies. I also think it's a worse punishment to make a man rot away his life in prison, with nothing to do but think about his crimes. I'm sure if something were to happen to someone I love that would warrant the death penalty, I might change my tune.

JMO: why should the person who killed someone be able to live and to think about anything. The person he/she killed is dead and the family has to live with that and knowing the killer is sitting in a warm place , getting 3 meals a day is wrong.

Also were paying for the killers to sit in jail. My tax money should be used for more important things.

If that is all that they had to do it would be great, but considering that they have all forms of entertainment, education, and what-not I say waste them. But do it in a way to gain some use from it like having the convicted person on a nutritious diet and working out and then harvest any and all usable parts for those that could benefit from transplant technology.

My dad is a correction's officer, and used to work at Sussex II in VA, where the John Mohammed (or however the heck you spell his name) is on death row right now. Those guys don't have it as good as you might think. My dad forgot to pack his lunch one day, and had to eat the cafeteria food (same food the prisoners eat). He was sick the rest of the day. You have a valid point though. As an outsider, I don't think we, as people, have the right to choose who lives or dies, it makes us no better than the criminal. However, if I were put in that position, I don't know what I would think at that point. Like I said, my opinion is purely theoretical.

That's where the horror movies come in, and some dude has a serial killer's :insertbodyparthere: transplanted into himself and he goes crazy.
