But that doesn't matter, from the reparations argument. None of that does. Because the premise for reparations IN THE FIRST PLACE is that the current system is skewed so greatly towards non-blacks, that your ancestors, poor or not benefitted from it more than former slaves did. The injustices are inherent to the society built on the backs of slaves - therefore, it doesn't even matter if you're of Asian or Arab or Indian or Hispanic background - you got benefits that they did not. One part of the article deals in part with an issue I concur with, even if I'm not sure where he's going with it - and that's that, paying people a pile o' cash for wrongs done over 100 years ago doesn't "solve" problems of today. Heck, we gave people cash for Katrina ONE YEAR AGO, and tons of it went to strip bars and junk. Giving away money doesn't solve the problem. You know, though, and I hate to say this, but I'd be willing to pay reparations if it did one thing it's not going to do - but if it did, I'd do it in a heartbeat - and that's put an end to the constant playing of the race card. I'm tired of people making things about race when it has no relevance except to unfairly benefit the person lodging the complaint. | |

![]() They holler about putting an end to all kinds of prejudice, yet keep it alive by bringing it up (in a belligerent way) all the time. An acquaintance of mine brings up an interesting point: without the slave trade, a lot of those folks wouldn't be here, they'd be living in Africa someplace. It doesn't take much thought to figure out which address is more desirable. They have benefitted from the very thing they are so angry about. Every day we (all of us) wake up in the U.S., in a free country unique in so many ways, is a gift whose value is beyond estimation. Being able to live here and being a legal citizen (with the accompanying benefits) are compensation enough for any honest person. The rest, as a U.S. citizen, you are allowed to earn. | I wish I could find the article from the post I clipped out several years ago. It was written by an educated black man and he basically is thankful his ansestors were slaves. Because of it, the now has a great life and future for his kids instead of being in the bush of Africa. He went on talking about how tiresome it is to hear the black youth today trying to get free hand outs for something that did not happen to them and gave the advice to work hard to better yourself. Do well in school, go to college or the armed forces and make something of yourselfs instead of expecting the world to owe them a living. If I find it, I will post it. It had a lot of truth in it.

The "black leadership" (which is an offensive concept in and of itself) doesn't want to improve race relations, any more than the NOW babes want women to be "equals". If that happened, it would put them out of business and they'd have to get real jobs instead of running their mouths, stirring up hate and discontent.
