Pretty cool stuff.

That's great news!!! Hopefully this discovery will soothe some of the fears of those individuals weary of the research process

Embryonic experimentation is gruesome and disgusting. I am against it, period.

I hope they are successful in this endeavor. I think this type of research can be extremely beneficial. What I'm wondering is will this breakthrough in cell research change the gov't or church's (RC) position?

While I also question the morality of using embryonic stem cells, I think Mitch Albom has a legitimate point:

Quote:
"This bill would support the taking of innocent human life ..." Bush said. "Each of these human embryos is a unique human life with inherent dignity and matchless value."

OK. If Bush believes that, why isn't he closing down every fertility clinic in America right now? Almost any woman who goes in for fertility treatments ends up producing more embryos than are implanted.
In my view, the best solution would be finding a way of using adult stem cells from umbilical cord blood to give the same benefits as embryonic stem cells. There is some research into that, but it hasn't yet been successful.

That's because the baby-killers have got it in their heads that they want to experiment on human embryos and nothing else will do.

I don't necessarily agree with Bush's particular take on embryonic research, but I would outlaw it in all its forms tomorrow if I were President. We already, as a society, have such low regard for our children and human life in general - abortion, child abuse, pedophilia. Why perpetuate it?

This approach however, apparently is already used in in vitro work to determine whether or not the embryo has genetic defects. It does not harm the embryon any more than taking a culture or biopsy from a human being.

Aren't you a self-described "pro-abortionist"?
Not just pro-choice, but pro-abortion?

Or did I miss the sarcasm in the posts where I read that.
