Olbermann wants $4 million...

http://www.nypost.com/seven/12192006...k_pagesix_.htm

First of all, wouldn't a raise from $1,000,000 to $4,000,000 be a 300% increase?

Here, do the math...

On a heavier note, Olbermann is not worth $4 million. Not by a long shot... Espically considering he is not bringing in that much worth of viewership. He's overpaid as it is. But if he leaves and goes to CNN, MSNBC is gonna lose alot more viewers and is going to become another conservative network (or a documentary network).

Keith is the only person I'll watch on MSNBC as it is. If he's gone, I'll make use out of "Starz! OnDemand" and ABC 7 News.

If KO is starting out his negotiations with a request of 4 Mil...that's understandable. Start with a number so high you'd be happy getting half of it in the end. There are also things we don't know, such as Chris Matthews' and Tucker Carlson's salary, etc.

Countdown has been steadily adding viewers....
Quote:
Olbermann is looking for such a big pay raise because Countdown has been on fire, playing a big part in the current audience uptick at the network. In the key 25-54 demo, its ratings are up 25% year-to-date and an astounding 75% so far in the fourth quarter.
... so, a raise is certainly in order.

We'll see what he settles for. Countdown viewers will certainly follow him to whichever network he moves to.

I would have to say since you and three other mouth breathing retards are the only ones who watch MSNBC, yes he is already overpaid.

What an insightful comment. Thanks for contributing! Now go on back to FOX News so you can find out what you're supposed to think tomorrow.

It will...

...be interesting to see how this plays out. $1 mil seems awful light for an audience of 650,000.

Brian Williams only makes $4 million. I love Keith, but he ain't Brian Williams.

From a different viewpoint - he doesn't contribute reports to other programs. He doesn't anchor any special reports (except Decision 2006 and Hurricane Frances in 2004). He chooses not to come on most of the summer because the New York Yankees are more important...

The network's cutting back on finances and Keith wants dramatically more than possible.

However, much of the network's CORE fanbase rallies around Olbermann. MSNBC risks too much on letting him go. He's popular espically in the uncounted 18-25 demographic. His special comments attract a huge internet fanbase and his Hurricane Katrina commentary was one of the top 10 most clicked items online.

The network risks becoming too right-wing if they cut Keith. I've been watching MSNBC since even before they hired Olbermann, but if they cut Keith, I'd stop watching.

And countdown is the highest rated program on MSNBC and one of the highest rated cable news programs.

I'd still watch it for the general news coverage and for Hardball...but that would be about it. I would guess that if KO does leave, they'd have to replace him with another left-winger...hopefully not one of the total nut-jobs, obviously. Maybe not as a "Countdown" thing, exactly...but they'd have to attempt to keep it somewhat balanced.

KO does not deserve Brian Wiliams money, no doubt. Again...I'm wondering if it isn't so much that he wants "4 Million"...but maybe he feels he's not being paid what he is worth compared to others on MSNBC. Not sure....

I think MSNBC's live news coverage sucks these days. They're too heavy in the politics and entertainment and too light on the homeland stories...

Tucker's show sucks now. I only watch Countdown, Scarborough and MSNBC Reports (Catch a Predator, Crime & Punishment and select documentaries). Now that they do Headliners & Legends all-day on weekends again, there's no reason for me to watch.
