Don't get your firewood from PG County!

There is a ban on transporting firewood, logs or the like out of PG county, MD. There is an infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer there that threatens the very survival of all ash trees in the USA. Originally from China, this beetle bores into the tree, killing everyone it infects and so transporting firewood, or any wood product originating in PG county, could aid in furthering the infestation. check it out! http://somd.com/news/headlines/2007/5156.shtml

a good rule of thumb, use the wood in the same area as it originates to reduce the spread of pests.
