And that's another funny thing. You see more kids with allergies and other issues than you did years ago when we did horrible things like stuffing them with cereal, letting them sleep on their bellies, etc.

Oh pooh. If he's not prone to allergies through genetics, he's not going to get allergies from a smidge of rice cereal.

Anyway, don't give him cereal if you're not comfortable with it. But do train him to fall asleep on his own or you'll be a crazy person. Let him cry for a few minutes, go soothe him, put him back down, etc. It doesn't take more than a few days for them to get the picture, and you can hang in there for that long.

Speedy, what do YOU feel like you should do? Aside from what you read. I really think moms (well, most of us) know our kids, especially after a few months. You won't hurt him and you probably already have a sense of what you need to do.

I think it occurs around that self-soothing age of 14.

I still think he's just working you. He may be drooling but they all do that. Mine "teethed" for 4 months, both cut their first teeth around 8 months. The longer you put off letting him cry, the worse it will be. Right now you can control the situation. Once he's up and around, forget it. And then he'll fling himself on the ground and act like an ass.

I thought he was referring to Otter in your post ( not the kids )

I like that explanation anyway.
