Can you tell there's not much to do at work today?

I know when I was a kid, both my parents smoked. I HATED cigarettes. Told my parents, family, "I'm never going to smoke". My father used to tell me that he hoped I wouldn't because "It's really hard to quit once you've started". Being a kid of course I didn't understand "addiction" but okay. Well as time went on and puberty set in, that plan right down the commode.

Bottom line, as a parent you can tell your kids not to smoke, provide them good reasons and hope they listen, but they are going to do whatever they are going to do. I'm still a smoker, but trying like hell to quit. Both my parents have quit smoking. Mother - almost 4 years and Dad- almost 3 years and my parents are in their 70's. It's never too late to quit and always be encouraging to those who try, even if they fail, keep trying.

Both my kids have grown up calling hubby's cigs "yuckies" however my oldest has been caught "pretend smoking" on hubby's old cig butts so it's not that much of a deterrent, I guess. My husband tells both kids he regrets starting and they should never start but I think it's falling on deaf ears (atleast with the oldest). Dad can do no wrong in his book. I've never smoked so I can offer no advice except when my kids hear me tell my husband that he stinks of cigarrettes.
