Sotterley Road is the northern end of the district (thats where I live- LOVE LOVE LOVE the school and I used to teach in this county). Once you pass Sotterley Manor and it turns into Vista Road you are in Oakville's disctrict. Route 4 where the Presbyterian Church is is the south end I think. Not the other side of Rt. 4-that is Town Creek. I do know that behind St. Johns Church goes to Hollywood, but no so sure about how far back the boundary is. The St Mary's Co. Public Schools website is really good and I believe they have a map there-may be under transportation? There are other great schools in the county, but I really have had great luck with HES!!!!

Hope that helps!

Just an FYI, Hollywood is the most expensive town to live in St. Mary's.

EXCELLENT school! My daughter has attended there since kindergarten and is now in 3rd grade. Fenwick Manor off Sotterely Road is an okay neighborhood. More modest in price. Meadowbrook is across the street from the school, they are more high end homes.

Currently, a majority of the Wildewood kids go there too, but I believe that they are going to be moved to Evergreen Elementary when it opens.

I'm excited that I live in the Hollywood Elementary school district and that my son is gonna get to go there.

Is the cut off September 1st here too? My son was born September 22, so he'll be nearly 6 when he goes to kindegarten if that's the case.

I thought the cutoff was the first day of school here.

Yeah, I don't know. In Minnesota the cut off was September 1st. If a child was not age 5 by September 1st they were not eligible to go to kindegarten that year.

Hollywood Elementary School district covers the children on St. John's Road, to Abell's Run subdivision. When you get to Abell's Ridge, those children go to Leonardtown so that is where it splits for Hollywood. Not sure how Evergreen will change the boundaries when it opens.

The state-wide cut off now is September 1st. That is a relatively new date. Children who are in the 5th grade now had a cut off date of December 31st. Current 4th graders had a cut off date of Nov. 30th, for 3rd graders it was Oct 31., 2nd grade was Sept 30th and current 1st graders had to be 5 by Sept 1st before entering kindergarten last year. The date stands at Sept 1st, however, parents of children who just miss the deadline (not sure how much leeway they allow) can petition the school board for an early admission.
