Trash into treasure

Did anyone else's kid have to do a project this week by collecting things normally thrown away (milk jugs, newspaper, soda cans, etc) and create something out of them and write a story about it? My 1st grader did. We made a boat out of the styrofoam thingy meat comes in, two soda cans for the mast, a small chip bag folded into a triangle for the sail, an empty pill thingy for the steering wheel and half of a Trix yogurt container for the motor. If your kids had to do this, what did they make?

Very good!! Mine had to do it also. We made a flower out of a soup can, paper towel tube, old wrapping paper and some plastic tubing that was used in something shipped to us.
