first, a smack on the leg is hardly going to cause any permanent damage to the child and I see no problem with it.

next
when the old lady was caught staring you down your response should have been.

I dont normally smack my children, but after the second time she tried to point out that your tittie was hanging in your mashed potatoes, I had had enough.
I certainly do not want her to turn out to be a nosy beacth like you turned out to be.
Im sure you understand.

I told her to change the attitude, it's not going to be tolerated. This goes on and on and finally I reached over and smacked her leg. Not hard, just a, "I'm not going to put up with this attitude" reminder. Now she cries, wipes her eyes and is magicly in a better mood. 5mins tops after the "smack". I look over and this older woman is clearly staring me down and pissed off.

Should I be ?? My being a and all. I'm just not sure anymore.
Did you call CPS on yourself?

First, why would you smack a kid who's just sitting there? If she were acting up, that's one thing. But when they pout and won't speak to you, that's when you enjoy the silence.

Second, why do you care that some strange lady is angry about you disciplining your child?

I KNOW, I KNOW!!! Because society has made it impossible for people to do anything without feeling GUILTY!!!! Everything you do, you almost have to think twice about because of what some idiot has brainwashed you into believing. You spank your kid (in public or not) and automatically that makes you a child abuser.

She was actually very pleasent the rest of the meal and evening.
It worked for me!!!! If it worked, and she straightened up and acted right, that is all that matters!!
