Does anyone know if there is a minimal amount of children, where you could just be considered a babysitter, instead of a child care.

Your wife will probably want to quit her day job, though...it's a lot of work to do both. But she can decide that after she gets into it.

The most time consuming thing is getting the fingerprint check back on all the adults in the household, plus any assistants. All the rest, training and so forth can take place while you are waiting for that. Once the prints come back the Office of Child Care will order a fire inspection and set up their own inspection.

Fingerprint check depends on how backed up things get. Could be 3-4 weeks, could be a couple of months.

Yeah, thats what I thought. Oh well shes working on it today. We should here something soon, on what to do I guess. She is working vigerously today on this.

In the state of Maryland, if you watch even one child not related to you for more than 20 hours per month, you must be registered (licensed).

Basically "babysitting" is someone coming into the child's home or a relative watching the child or "occasional" care. "Occasional" care is defined as less than 20 hours per month.
