I Don't Wike You No More...

So, I'm driving home and the two older ones start in on each other as usual. Boy yells "get off". Girl giggles. Boy whines "Mommy, Jeweyette's foot on me".
I look back. Sure enough, Girl has her foot resting ever so slightly on his leg. Not hurting him but enough to irritate him. I reach behind me and pinch her a bit. She calms down. Then I hear a smack and in Boy's voice "I don't wike you no more". Again, I look back. Again, Girl's foot is resting on his leg.

Let the fun begin.

Ah yes! The days of "She's breathing my air!". I remember those days so well. Ironically enough though, nobody else was allowed to pick on my kids. The two oldest were less than 2 years apart and they definitely had each other's back. Only they were allowed to half-kill each other and then of course they both took up for baby sister when she came along. Fun!

Mine are protective over each other too. There are 25 months between the older two and 15 months between the younger two.

My two are the same way except it's the older one messing with the younger one. He will say "Bet you can't hit me." or calling his younger brother "Bolthead". Or he will make up a name that sounds like an insult just to get the younger one going. They are fine with eachother anywhere else but strap them into a backseat and the harrassment begins.

It only gets better....when they get to the teenage years, they will all be "fighting" with each other....but, rest assured they will have each others backs

Mine have always fought "like cats and dogs"(and still do)....but, if someone "from the outside" starts something, they all back each other up

One day my husband was changing the oil in one of the cars and had the hood up. Oldest was standing looking at the motor as it was running. Youngest came over to check it out too and oldest grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him away so he wouldn't get too close to get hurt. I thought it was really sweet. About a minute later, they run into the yard and oldest throws youngest down and laughs. One minute he is his brother's protector and the next, he's his tormentor.

I have to agree with what all you are saying, as I went through it too.

The other thing that seems to drive their behavior can be traced back to one word: ATTENTION - they want yours desperately!

Also, be on the lookout for them to start testing you - pushing the boundaries, so to speak. They want to see how far you'll let them go, before you get angry and say "no, quit that now"!

Cute story, socki! I'm several years older than all 5 of my siblings. I remember them doing/saying the same stuff. And sometimes I would pick on them, too. Just because.

She sounds like a troublemaker...just like her mother.
