Why did I think this thread was about a radio station?

I hope your little one is feeling better soon.

I would recommend taking her to the ER. Most likely it could be an inner ear infection. With a fever that high, it has to be a bacteria or infection her/his body is trying to fight. Usually fevers go down in the day and back up around dawn. If it was my child, I would taken her/him to the ER. If for nothing else, piece of mind.

For the lady who was complaining about the anitbiotic that the doctor prescribed her, I would be very careful demanding which ones are prescribed for your little one. I am not judging you, as you obviously know what side effects you are going to get from some of them, but some anitbiotics are definitely better for some infections than others. I, personally, would rather have to follow up with something for a yeast infection a couple of days later and know that the infection was taken care of than have them prescribe something that might not be the best thing or might not knock it out all the way. Again, I am not judging you, just pointing out that not all antibiotics are created equal.

It was a simple ear infection which my son had every 3 weeks until we had his right tube replaced and his tonsils and adenoids removed. I didn't demand a certain type of med. she asked me if he had any allergies or problems with any medications and I told her that Amoxicillan usually wasn't strong enough, sometimes depending upon what virus the doc. thought he had they would try Zithromax, but usually he took Omnicef and it would clear right up. I indicated that the side effects of Augmentin weren't worth it, so I was just saying in my previous post that after the urgent care doc was given all of that information, she should have made an educated guess (being the medical professional and knowing the side effects of Ceftin) that my child would be better off getting prescription for Omnicef, Zithromax or Amoxicillan.

I appreciate your opinion, but you haven't seen the extent of yeast infection my child can get when exposed to some of these drugs, my nephew has the same problem, I WOULD NOT prefer to follow up on the yeast infection and continue giving the med that causes it when there is a choice of 3 other medications (that I know of) that do not have this side effect. It is difficult to ease the pain for the child when they have a yeast infection and to watch them go through it, the Nystatin is not that effective and the Vusion is so new that insurance won't pay for it, so why would I get a prescription that will require my child to be in more agony than the ear infection and require additional meds? I'd rather try the meds with the least chance of side effect and if it doesn't work, resign myself to giving the med with the side effect second. I'm not trying to be a biatch, just explaining that I didn't demand a certain type of med. and I know that different meds attack different viruses, but I also know my child and his medical history. I was not trying to say that everyone or anyone should agree with me, just relating a story of what happened to me, since SOMDgirl's daughter was taking the same med. my son had a problem with and airing the side effect she may be in for.
But, this isn't about me it's about SOMDgirl's child, so I hope she is feeling better.

My daughter had this happen at about the same age. Spiked to 105. They found e-coli in urine. Stated it was due to the potty training because they don't wipe front to back, they wipe back to front and are not that good at it.

They hospitalized her and while in the hospital she began to have seizures from the fever. FREAKED ME OUT! Considering I had kidney probelms from the time I was 5, (had surgery at 5) they sent her to children's for tests and everything came back fine and she has never had an issue since.

Those high fevers can scare the crap out of you!!!! How is she doing now?
