Chesapeake Public Charter School

Does anyone have any kids that go there? If so it it really good. I like the fact they have really small class size and uniforms. Just want some other opinions on it. Thank you.

Red face

Went to their Open House last night. I like the small class setting and the on-hand approach to learning. My daughter will be going in 6th grade this fall and it looks like I've got a snow-balls chance of getting her in there, unless all the stars align just right!

My youngest go in but we declined. The library didn't have any books in it, his classes were going to be larger than what he had in public school by about 5 kids, no gym or playground to speak of. We liked the ideas but thought it was still going thru growing pains of a new school without a new school budget. This was a year ago so things may have improved.

My 5 yr old is a Kindergartener at CPCS. She LOVES it! The school is still in its infancy, but there is real potential. The biggest thing for us is that it seems like everybody truely loves working there and most of the parents are very involved with their kids and the school. Every child has an individual education plan.

My 5 yr old started reading easy books at 3 and since starting school this fall is now reading chapter books, she has taken a sign language elective and Spanish. I would say they are probably heavy on getting everybody to read early on. I LOVE the school and am very happy that we were lucky enough to get in last year.

My daughter is in her second year there and she LOVES LOVES LOVES the school. The staff is some of the best around and actually LOVE what they do. They enspire the kids to do their best and despite not having all of the bells and whistles of a bigger elementary school, the kids do not mind not having all of those things. They do teach the kids the importance of recycling, cleaning up the environment, ect. There is also the Project Club Time in which the kids participate in a "club", which is from gardening, fitness, Eggbert Challenge, first aid, ect.

My son is also in second grade and I cannot begin to tell you how much we love the school. I agree with everything the jwwb2000 has to say. My child and my family has never felt more welcome. The are not only meeting the academic needs of the child, but a lot of other areas as well. One of the best things is the amount of parental involvement there is. As anyone who attends, this school is tops!

I personally find it sad that we have to apply and wait to potentially be in a "Lottery" to have our children educated in a level above an everyday public school. Is there tuition at the CHCS?
