babysitting cost

How much do you pay for a sitter? I haven't used one before and my kid is 6. She always goes to grannys when i need a sitter so i am lost at what to pay! This particular date will be from 3pm overnight til 9am the next morning. However I still would like to hear what others pay for just a few hours or so in case I need to do this again. Thanks.

I usually charge $20 for the first hour $10/hour for the rest, only because some people only need you for an hour or 2 $10/ hour just wouldnt be worth it. Now for your all nighter, I might say $10/hour would be good, if the sitter thinks thats reasonable. If it is someone younger who is watching her like say 15 or 16, I might say 7 or 8 an hour would work, really it's up to them. Im 21, in college, work full time (at a daycare), so babysitting is good extra money to me(and I love doing it), but has to be worth it. When I was in highschool though, I didnt expect near as much. Hope this helps a little.

So parents going out for 5 hours would cost $60 with you?

Luckily my sitters don't charge that much. My usual sitter charges me $8 an hour for 3 kids... max of $50 a night.

The last sitter I used we told her we would be gone from 5pm - 10pm.. she told us all she wanted was $20. We ended up getting home a couple hours later than planned and we paid her $45.

I remember when I was a teen and did an overnight I made $100.

It depends on how the kids are and how many. 6 is a easier age to watch than say one that is diapers. I charge about $15.00 an hour since I am an adult and can drive myself to the location.

Babysitting

We have a babysitter once a month so we can go to a scout leader meeting. She watches the kids from 6:45/7:00 - 9:30/10:00. When we had 3 kids, we paid $30.00. Now that we have 4, we pay $40.00.
