| Psychiatrists in our area? Hi! Our daughter was diagnosed with ADD/OCD last February. We were referred to a doctor in Clinton who has been providing her meds. It is a bit far to travel for the monthly ADD meds. Can anyone recommend a local psychologist for this type of care? Our daughter is doing fine on the meds. We just hate the drive each month. Thanks! |

I'm not sure, but I don't think psychologists can prescribe meds (I may be wrong)...I thought only psychiatrists could do that. Good luck. | |

| You are right, Psychologists can't rx meds because they are not MD's. Doctors in Primary Care are very cautious about giving Teens medications, so they refer them out elsewhere. I guess it's the medical form of "passing the Buck". Our Grandson is seeing a neurologist, and is just at the testing phase of his treatment. No diagnosis as of yet. maybe restless might want to consider seeing a good Neuro. In Calvert County, there is Dr Kerasidis. I might have mispelled his name, but he is very good, and so is his Associate Dr Schmaltz, which I think is his wife. |

| Thanks, everyone! I meant to say psychiatrist. I think I need one too! Lol Our family doctor has agreed to give daughter her meds here in Leonardtown. However, if we need to do any changes to the meds, we would have to go to a psychiatrist. A local one would be nice to have. I understand there are waiting lists for them here in St. Mary's. |

| My son sees Dr. Mendelis in Waldorf for his ADD meds. He's in Pembrooke Square.
