Girl gets stalking order against parents

Aubrey Ireland obtains stalking order against overprotective parents | World | News | National Post

Hounded by a mother and father who followed her around on campus and clandestinely monitored her movements using electronic tracking software, an Ohio musical theatre student has successfully obtained a stalking order against her parents.

It was “like I was a dog with a collar on,” Aubrey Ireland, a 21-year-old student at the University of Cincinnati, told an Oct. 9 court hearing, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

According to a judge’s ruling this month, Julie and David Ireland must stay at least 150 metres from their daughter at all times and could face criminal charges if they have any contact with their only child before Sept. 23, 2013.

Hope she never moves to China...

That's a bit disturbing.

With a degree in Music Theater, those parents have nothing to worry about. Their girl will be back to living in their basement for many, many years.

Not if she were my daughter she woudlnt.
at best she could have a corner of the yard that would keep her at least 150 feet from me at all times.

Why do you say that? There are a thousand things you can do with a Musical Theater degree, then 20 thousand more things you can do outside that field.

My first thought was good for her, but on second thought I wonder if the parents were paying for her college...

If you are paying for your adult child's college, do you have a right to know what they're doing while at college? I'm thinking yes and no. In other words, I'm thinking too much and have confused myself.

You mean things like waiting on tables and going to auditions? That doesn't count.

And those aren't even the fields that entail performing arts, in which there are a zillion opportunities that don't require you being a Broadway star. A musical theater degree is actually a BFA, which you can take an awful lot of places.

Made #3 on the list of useless degrees but the article points out the positive. You'll be good at "acting" like you have a job.
