Unhappy Germs put an end to Birthday wishes

Strict new hygiene rules for childcare will wrap kids in a bubble, says AMA | News.com.au

"To prevent the spread of germs when the child blows out the candles, parents should either provide a separate cupcake, with a candle if they wish, for the birthday child and (either) enough cupcakes for all the other children ... (or) a large cake that can be cut and shared."

If you live in a bubble, your body won't build up an immunity against disease. Cray cray people these days. RIP birthday parties.

People who spend too much time disinfecting their world are hurting their kids. Keep them in a bubble until kindergarten, then bam they're exposed to hundreds of bugs they have no defense for.

Catching viruses is part of life. It builds immunities so that when something bad comes along it doesn't kill you.

I just had a mental picture of kids at a birthday party wearing germ masks, instead of party hats!!! What's next? Kids will have to show proof of a party vaccine, before they can be invited to a birthday party! Sheesh! Now, sneezing on the cake is a different story, all together.

at least they still allow cakes and cupcakes..the info from my kid's school says to consider "healthy alternatives" to cake and cupcakes. I am a nutrition nut a little bit with my daughter..but damnnn let the kids have some birthday cake.

If you deprive them too much they'll sneak out to get their sugar fix. Next thing you know they're robbing people to support their Dunkin donuts habit.
