Parents of transgender first-grader file complaint

Parents of transgender first-grader file discrimination complaint - CNN.com

A prominent transgender rights group announced Wednesday that it has filed a discrimination complaint in Colorado on behalf of a first-grader who was born a boy but identifies as a girl.

Last December, school officials at Fountain-Fort Carson School District told Coy Mathis' parents that their child could no longer use the girls' bathroom at Eagleside Elementary.

That shocked her parents, said her mother, Kathryn Mathis.

Coy was born with male sex organs but has, since she could express herself, identified as female. The child had gotten through kindergarten with no problems and no complaints from anyone at the school, Mathis said.

Well coached child. Poor thing. What a miserable life he will lead.

I know its terrible but I often wonder if parents have a kid and raise them like this with the idea of making bank on lawsuits.

It seems that the school acted on the complaints of other students and parents.
when does the one child that was raised to think he was a she, have more rights to comfort than the many other children that were not raised the same way?

I think the parents wanted a girl child. My son is 26 months old now and still hasn't really done anything that definitively screams boy or girl at me. I can't fathom an 18 month old having a gender crisis.

I have never placed gender consraints on my kids. My girls hunt, fish, play in dirt, ride 4-wheelers, love trucks and spend more time in the woods than not. That being said they are still very girly. They like make up and pink frilly stuff. Children only know what they are taught.

Your girls are obviously gay males trapped in female bodies. You should be ashamed of yourself for forcing them to conform to some out of date perception of gender.

The parents ought to be flogged, drawn & quartered for doing this to their child.

I think "gender identity" is the new ADD/asthma/whatever - the hot fad kid disease that's all the rage. Parents use it as a tool to get attention for themselves and kids latch onto it because they have crazy parents.

I have to shop for a baby shower I'm going to tomorrow. She is having a boy... but to be safe I think I stick to purchasing unisex diapers and wipes... wouldn't want to go in it's baby book as being the first to offend it.
