Hi Nomoney,
I run the Destination ImagiNation (DI) program in Maryland as a full time volunteer. I do it because I am convinced that it provides the kids with things that they don't get during the typical school day. If your child enjoys creative pursuits of any kind and is willing to put in some time, he/she will love it. A DI team's success hinges on the commitment of the team manager, the team members, and the team families. If all are willing to do their share, then the team will enjoy the experience. As a parent, please do your best to support the team manager by helping with snacks, taking kids on shopping expeditions, supervising the kids at meetings when needed, etc. Buit remember that DI is not like science fair. The kids must do all the work and generate all their ideas on their own. Parents and friends can't help. At the end of the season, the kids will be so proud of what they accomplished all by themselves.
I hope your child has a great DI season!
