Lost Yellow Lab in St. George Valley Lee area

We haven't seen our Yellow Lab since yesterday (Sat. 10/20) afternoon. She roams around our yard freely and has never taken off before, so we are sad and concerned. What would be the first place I should call, police?
Is there an animal control officer that someone may have called? or what?
Her collar is here, probably from her weekend bathing/brushing, so no I.D., argh!
The kids are sick with worry!
Any tips or advice welcome.
Thanks

Call rescues, The tri county animal shelter (everyday), and local vets. Put up flyers in your neighborhood and local grocery stores. Mention it to your postal carrier and bus drivers in the area. I hope you find your puppy soon

I just posted a bulletin about a dog my friend currently has in her back yard. I don't know exactly where the dog was found (somebody picked it up off the road after it almost got hit 3 times, and my friend took it to put in her fenced in back yard until the owner could be located. The lady said she found it somewhere on Three Notch Road, but she had come from Leonardtown area, so she may have been mistaken. It had an orange collar on when found, but like another poster stated, it could have been put on her by somebody else. She said the dog has blue eyes, and is very friendly. Here is a picture...

Thanks,
I thought this thread was deleted somehow, I couldn't find it. Maybe I'm just grief-stricken! I've reposted another thread.
The dog your friend found is probably not ours, as Three Notch Road is far from our house, and her collar is not orange. Although that won't help us as her collar is not on her! ARGH!
Thanks for the tips and concern.

If it were my dog and I thought it was "probably not mine", I'd be sure as hell be checking more into it for that small chance that it might be. And making sure I could say that it's "definitely not mine". But then again I love my doggies!

What is your problem?? The poster provided a picture which I looked at very closely. Couple that with the location and the collar and I don't think she's got our pup.
Where do you get off determining how we feel about our dog based on a single word used in an internet forum?

OK, well somebody had pointed me to your post. I just thought there was a chance somebody else had found the dog, and put a collar on it and tied it up, then it maybe got loose again.

My friend got the dog from one of the STS bus drivers, who saw it almost get hit several times. The lady said "Three Notch Road" but I thought there was a chance she might have meant Rt 5, as she was coming from Leonardtown. And I know those busses go ALL over the county, so who knows where exactly she found the dog. Just thought I'd show you a picture to make sure the pooch wasn't yours.

I Hope you find your dog! Good luck!

Where did I say anywhere how you felt about your dog? I simply stated that because I love my dog, I wouldn't throw out an option because of "probably" and "don't think". All I was saying is what I would do!

I think this comment insuates that the other owner doesn't care as much as you. I took it that way also. Sure nothing was meant by it though.

Well, couple the insinuation with the " I'd be sure as hell looking into it", and it's quite a condemnation of me. However, I'll accept your explanation, and assume it was me who jumped the gun.
