...irritates me.

They're making a stink over the horse being euthanized after the derby.

That horse was well fed, housed safely, and generally pampered. When it was injured, it was euthanized as painlessly and humanely as possible.

They also spend their time protesting KFC because eating chickens is "inhumane."

All the time, they are ignoring the true inhumane treatment that animals get every day. It wasn't sensational enough for them to help the horse in Park Hall (Snowflake?). They don't notice dogs tied out all year long to suffer in the heat and cold without adequate food, water, and shelter. They don't notice the ignorant people who feed feral cats.

If PETA actually cared about animals, they'd do something about the real abuse that happens every day. They wouldn't just pop up every time something dramatic happens.

How was 8 Belles euthanized?
Can we presume it was w/an injection? I never heard..
Maybe that's their gripe?

I was going to stay away from the 8 Belles posts, however this one has me confused.... how the heck would she be euthanized on the track if it wasn't by injection... shotgun... sledgehammer... why would PETA be up in arms over lethal injection vs. other euthanization methods... seriously, please unconfuse me...

They're whining because the jockey used a whip. They aren't complaining about every jockey in the race using a whip. They are only complaining about that jockey, in that race, with that horse.

They used lethal injection.

The same type that should be used on Peta members.

I was wondering the same thing...I didn't know how the poor filly was put down-maybe PETA are anti gun nutz?!

It was an injection. The horse was euthanized in the most humane manner possible. It was no less humane than the methods used by PETA when they slaughter animals.
