FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) - Frederick County Animal Control has seen a dramatic increase in abandoned pet drop offs as well as euthanasia this year.

Officers attribute the rising number of drop offs to the declining household incomes. Just this morning alone, a woman dropped off 15 cats with plans to bring 40 more tomorrow. She said she could not afford to feed them on her farm. Other families can not afford the healthcare for aging and sick pets.
