Deaf Pets

I have a deaf cat. Finally got it that she hangs with the dogs cause they scare off other animals (cats). and her disability shields her from their incessant barking.

Anyway, my light bulb moment tonight, turn on the porch light to let her know she can come in the house. She doesn't hear, " kitty, kitty" - or my stamping feet (unless she is on the deck, she'd feel the stamp). Like I say, learn something new everyday.

I have a deaf kitty too! He definitely rules the roost and picks on my 80 lb dog incessantly.

Pretty cat Nickel!

I have 2 deaf dogs. I flick the room light on inside the house to get their attention sometimes. Also use a flashlight for outside, or the outside light like you mentioned.
DDEAF links for Blind Dogs, Deaf Cats, & OCD Softcrab - There some links on here for deaf cats, maybe you could find some useful info to help you communicate w/ your cat.

I have a 15 yro dog that is just about deaf. I use hand signals with her. Once I have her attention and she see's me. She usually obeys the signals... And they say thier dumb animals.... This would be my 3rd dog that I have done this with, my other 2 were put down at 14.
