Could be a puppy just getting his ears to stand. I remember when my shepherd learned how to use his ears, one would stand and the other flop, then both would stand like that, and later he learned how to move them back and forth. Funny to watch.

Oh yeah, Sharon, now you're getting downright,
flappin' oticular! I realize canines are pretty intelligent(sometimes scary/intelligent); my old girlfriend has a Chessie, and I swear she can understand at the eighth grade level!
When it hits you - that d@mned dog understands what it is you are saying to her, it almost floors you!!
But now you expect me to believe the dog knows he/she is just going through a phase?
