We priced out individual coverage for both of them, but even at age 21 and 20, their premiums were going to be about $250/month. When the HSAs became available, we priced those out and the results were much better.

They were both able to sign up for their own HSA for $36 a month. The deal with an HSA is that you need to have a medical savings account associated with it, which the insurer set up, and they put $50 a month into it. So for $86 a month they have insurance. Best of all, that $50 is theirs, not the insurers. The downside to the HSA is that they have a $1,500 deductible before their 80/20 coverage kicks in, but that's what the savings account is for. Since their not having to go to the doctor very often, their $50 is stadilly growing in their accounts.

My daughter just went fulltime at a nursing agency, and she had a choice between their HSA and a traditional healthplan. She kept her original plan, and her company agreed to put $150/month into her account rather than pay $150 towards a traditional plan. So she stopped paying the $50 in herself, and is getting the $150 from her company. And if she goes to a new job, every dime her company put into her account stays with her, it doesn't go to the insurer.

What happens to the money in the HSA if they don't spend it??

---about Hillary speaking of taking things away.

Didnt she say she would take away the oil company profits?

Another of her statements.Clinton said, "Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Hillary is a Socialist ::Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an "ownership society" really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."

Now we all know this is horsechit. We dont any of us see her giving up any of her or Bill's millions. What she is really saying is that she and those she chooses should be royalty while the rest of us do the sharing.

Hillary Clinton blasts Bush economy - Politico.com

Why anyone would vote for this harridan is beyond me. She is stating flat out is that ,given the opportunity ,she will take away anything that a working person earns and hand it to the first lazy bastid that comes along.

We dont see this woman sharing her prosperity do we?
Maybe she isnt one of us., but above us. better than us.

The only thing I have seen the Clinton's share is Bill's cigars, he shares them with girls young enough to be his daughter.

We wont see Hilary giving up her special priviliges, privileges such as Senatorial health care ----Pensions----secret service protection--special loans on her home in Chippaqua.. Special privileges for none she says.
Let me get out my hip boots, the Chit is getting deep. What a lying sack of crap she is.

You're right. Boomers don't care about where the next generation will be in 25 years.

They wonder where THEY will be in 25 years.

So they worry about Social Security and Health Care and cost of living and pensions and so forth. Oh they worry about the environment but only if it's going to affect them in their lifetime.

I'm reminded of one of my favorite bits from an 80's movie, The Breakfast Club.

VERNON
You think about this...when you get
old, these kids; when I get old,
they're gonna be runnin' the country.
CARL
Yeah?
VERNON
Now this is the thought that wakes
me up in the middle of the night...
That when I get older, these kids
are gonna take care of me...
CARL
I wouldn't count on it!

It ain't future generations they're worried about - it's their own azz.

That would be a nice chunk of change. What if something really bad happened and that fund ended up being drained? Does the High Deductable Insurance plan have a max out of pocket limit?

Its like regular insurance except it has a high deductable (hence the name High Deductable Health Plan). This savings account is for paying for expenses to meet that deductable. Many plans pay 100% after the deductable for that year has been met. The deductable can be as high as $5k a year, the higher the deductable the cheaper the monthly premium.
