| I watched an Obama Commercial yesterday. He promised Universal Health Care. ------- Thats gonna hurt the pocketbook He promised a Middle Income tax break. --- Where have we heard that one before? He promised a clean environment----Kyoto here we come ,Its breaking the Canadians. He promised an end to Division---Heard that one before too. He promised the troops will come home ,like tomorrow --There's going to be a lot of dead bodies in Iraq when we pull out, The Iranians are going to be even more active there , Al Qaeda will call it a defeat and become more pro-active, the Middle East may explode into chaos, and oil prices will skyrocket. There isnt a nickel's worth of difference between Hillary and Obama except Hillary is corrupt and Obama is Naive. There isnt any difference between Mccain and Hillary or Obama except John McCain knows we cannot leave Iraq immediately and supports our troops. Huckabee ??? I reserve judgement---for now. |

| I've said this before, but I think it's worth repeating. The reason that Obama is pulling ahead isn't what he says, but the words he uses. Hillary and Obama are both promising the same things, and both have the same odds of making it happen. But if you listen to Hillary, everything is phrased using exclusive words, i.e., everything is "me", "I", "mine", "I'm", etc. Obama always uses inclusive language, i.e., "we", "we're", "our", "us", etc. The use of inclusive language is very powerful, and gives people the feeling that they are involved, rather than standing on the outside looking in. |

I hold the press responsible for this...they are so blinded by their "progressive" credentials and love for Obama, or more like it enamored of the celebrities behind him, that they refuse to see the forest for the trees. They give Mo Baracka a pass that borders on idol worship. Sooner or later the piper will come for his fee and it would be interesting to see, beside the obvious, who is backing him up. In my opinion,I think McCain will take the prize...even though I think Huckabee is the better choice. Obama will get the democratic nomination, but will usher in one heck of a catastrophe as the Dems (of whom I was once an ardent member) implode. The youth vote will again go to the republicans because there are enough who look more for stability than the oft mentioned"change". I see nothing but inanity and insanity coming. Perhaps the Mayan codexes were right.

| I think this is probably the greatest election, from a political science perspective, than any of us are likely to see in our lifetimes. There are so many dynamics in play that it's hard to keep track and score them all. For the Republicans: - Huckabee probably can't catch McCain's delegate count, but if he gets within 200, and Romney (who hates McCain) throws his delegates behind Huckabee, Huckabee wins. - Lots of Republicans (myself included) will not vote for McCain. Some will not vote for Huckabee. - McCain is banking on conservatives forgiving his transgressions and coming to his support in the end, but will they? - McCain has gotten where he is largely on support from moderate Democrats and independent voters, but McCain needs the conservative base to win. The base and the moderate Dems and Indies are opposed on most issues, so pleasing one group will alienate the other. - Lots of conservative/Republican leaders are giving their support to a man who they normally would never support, and will have to answer for that. - McCain is trying to rewrite a decade of screwing conservatives with measureable actions with a few weeks of speeches and unverifyable promises. Can he do it? For the Democrats: - Two special interest groups are competing, women and blacks, and whoever loses is going to be sore about it. - Blacks and Hispanics distrust one another. If Hillary picks Obama as VP, she'll alienate the Hispanic voters she needs to win in the general. If she picks some white guy, she alienates the black voters she needs. - Super delegates are career pols who will have to decide between the Clinton Machine and the popular vote. - Obama has been generating record voter turnout that exceeds Republicans, and is driven by a desire for a change from the usual politics. But what happens if Clinton gets the nod? These don't seem like folks who will vote for the same old same old. - A joint Obama/Cinton ticket is a dream for voters who want to see a black or woman in the White House, but there are still a lot of voters who don't want a woman or black in the White House. - Bill Clinton is sure this election is all about him. - The Congess with less than 20% approval ratings ran on the pledge to end the war in Iraq and couldn't. Obama and Clinton are running on the same thing, while knowing they won't be able to live up to their promises. Yep... this is a good one. |

If only us Republicans can get excited about someone like the dems are w/ Obama and Hillary... maybe I should not put out a blanket statement like that, but for me to be honest I can't get excited about any of the republican candidates right now. ![]()
