| Becaue he's not running for Chief of Naval Operations, he's running ofr POTUS. The Constitution doesn't include military service as a requirement.

| So you're saying that a guy who the military determined was unfit to be even the skipper of a small naval base yet alone CNO, is somehow fit to be judged by the voters to be the CNO's boss based on the same service record that the Navy judged him on??? |

THis is what his career was, and it was becasue he was a lousy leader?? Lot of good leaders never command a ship or ship sized contigent. I'll give you a PMA for example.. Not really a leadership position compared to commanding a carrier, but still some very bright O-6's. I've never been a Capt in the Navy so I can't really say what constitutes a good leadership position or not.. And you give everything he did or accomplished because of his dad? WOW, all that and they couldn't get him out of Vietnam? Yeah, he crashed a few airplanes.. what was maintenance like on those planes in the 60's?? How many, for example, has Yeager crashed? How many pilots died in crashes in that same time frame, yet he survived!?

Hillary is indeed a brillant women... Unfortuately, her legacy is tied to her last name! Qualifications or not, the American public will not elect her based on that fact! Try and count the number of folks that want to see Hillary and her first lady "Billy" in the white house!

Have you actually thought through what you're writing? You're doing nothing but making excuses for this guy! Well... Bruzilla's just supposing... the maintenance on those planes might have been faulty... yeah, and I guess he had some hardcase riding him at Annapolis for four years that resulted in his being in the Century Club all that time and giving him bad grades... and his first wife forced him to divorice her by pushing him into the arms of another woman by having an auto accident. Oh yeah... and his dad didn't have anything to do with him getting those top-of-the-class orders while finishing 5th from the bottom of the class - all the rest of the midshipmen must have wanted crappy orders. Okay, now I get it, none of the failings of McCain's life were his fault, they were the fault of a vast Navy/Spouse conspiracy. I have been so blind! This was likely the same conspiracy that got him in trouble with the Navy for his indescretions while skipper of VA-174 that cost him his admiral's flag. See, here's the deal. You can sit there and play McCain's lawyer, and write "there's no proof of that!", "that's just speculation!", or "maybe the other 250 or so midshipmen did want crappy orders", but at the end of the day, McCain never got his admiral's flag despite being a son and grandson of admirals and a POW for six years. That may not mean anything to a civilian, but to Navy folks that's HUGE. In civilian terms, that's like the son of a CEO, who's been groomed in the family business for years, ending up as mid-level manager. If he was in The Godfather, he would be Fredo out watching hotels in Vegas while Michael takes over the family. Should McCain get credit for having served and for making the rank of captain? Certainly. But what bothers me is he's trying to spin his service career into something it was not. The time for him to have been a good officer and naval aviator was when he was in uniform. He had his chance, blew it, and is now trying to rewrite history, and to me that's an insult to the guys who went in AND did it right. You might want to start thinking instead of making excuses. You mention his not leaving Vietnam. According to McCain, he violated the Code of Conduct, to what degree we don't know as he hasn;t ever really been forthright about what he did. | |

| One of the planes he "lost", was the one he was sitting in when it was hit by the missle on the deck of the Forrestal. It's amazing he got out alive.
