Most American voters are lemmings, just following the crowd over the cliff. Left right or center. The typical American values talent over character or substance. That explains the rise of Obama, as well as hero worship or sports stars etc... He is very talented and tells people what they want to hear, not what they need to hear. The typical voter doesn't want details, they want to feel good. So Obama can get away with platitudes, charisma, and style.

I'd be willing to bet that more people have more knowledge about American Idol, than American Politicians.

I've talked with people, mostly women, who are voting for Clinton because she is a woman. That is it, no other reason. They have offered "reasons" like, "it is time for a woman to be president" and other such drivel.

The same is happening with some voters for for Obama. Voting for him for no other reason than he is black.

Supporting McCain simply becasue his was a POW is just as absurd.

It is nearly impossible to reason someone out of a position they arrived at without any reason to begin with.

I have no problem with someone who disagrees with me or my positions, or just the opposite, agrees with me, IF they have arrived at those positions based on something resembling logic and reason. But simple naysaying is not reason. Following the crowd over a cliff just because the crowd is moving that direction is just as dumb.

...fair an accusation is that given the government we tend to get? I got used by W, twice. I feel betrayed by congressional Republicans. You can't stand up a typical GOP/conservative campaign platform and compare it to the last seven years and say I, we got anything close to what I should expect from people who claimed to be GOP'ers and conservatives. There aren't a whole lot of Democrats who feel they are well represented either.

I can't blame people for getting excited over 'hope' and 'change' and dreaming for much better politics. I just wish more GOP'ers supported a guy like Paul who has an actual record to back him up. We're going with more of the same, big time. Some credit is due to the dreamers on the left as they are actually doing something about it. That kind of thing ripples through over time, like Reagan in 1976, losing a battle but winning a war.
