| I know I'll offend some, but Gingrich was the guy who loudly proclaimed that Clinton was a shoe-in to win the nomination and the election. Remember that? He was also the guy who initially predicted that Rudi would win the Republican nod because of his 9/11 history and centrist views? I rate Gingrich in the same category as DICK Morris... they are both right about as often as the weatherman. What will be a catastrophy for Republicans will be if McCain is elected. That will force the Republicans in Congress to choose between supporting a Republican president who's supporting liberal/progressive policies, or oppose him and make it look like the Republican party has completely disolved. Vrai is right. I have no doubt that Obama is going to be a major foul-up, in fact I'm counting on it. The more Obama tries to move things to the Left, and you know he will, the more the really left types in Congress will push to support him. At that point the conservative Democrats who were elected in 2006 will have a tough choice to make: run off with the loons or side with the Republicans. That will make the Democrats look like the party that's imploding and pave the way for a Republican takeover in 2010 and 2012. |

Secondly, while he goes against conservatives 50% of the time, I can bet Obama will 100% of the time - he has the highest liberal rating of any Senator, and I've read his stuff on OnTheIssues.org - he doesn't get my vote. I guess I'm just not willing to undergo another Jimmy Carter for four years JUST so conservatives might get a win in 2012. The last one was horrific. | |

So, in that vein, I'm not sure I'd count on Obama being some sort of flaming mess like Clinton was. Clinton had a terrible record in Arkansas to go along with his suspect personal behavior. he talked his way out of things. In contrast, Obama has a much more limited record. He does not seem to be the micro manager that Clinton is. That means he's likely to not lard his plate up with endless details and an answer to every problem. He's an idea guy and idea guys make good presidents. I agree he will be constrained, as any president is, by the limitations of the office. I'm not so sure he's all that hazardous to himself like Clinton is. McCain winning won't be a catastrophe for GOP'ers; just conservatives. We couldn't make our case with W. There is no way we can with Big John.

| The problem with conservatives is that they get such bad press from every single major news outlet except for Fox. The lefties have effectively turned Fox into this extreme right-wing pariah simply because they give opposing viewpoints and don't just tow the DNC line. Even people who have never watched Fox in their lives are convinced it's some extremist news source and O'Reilly is a raving conservative madman. Now they want to shut down conservative radio, or at least make our tax dollars pay for leftist radio shows. So good luck to the GOP because they're effectively forced into hiding their conservativism if any of them want to be elected - just a whiff of conservative thought is enough to paint them as a right-wing extremist. A political party has used the media to gain power and silence their opposition and that should scare the hell out of all of us.

| How many stories have we seen touted by the MSM about conservative commentators that have been absolutely untrue or spun so that it doesn't even resemble what was actually said or written? The most recent is O'Reilly's "lynching" comment. Before that it was Limbaugh's "phony soliders" comment. Ann Coulter's 9-11 widows comments. There are a zillion examples. Anyone who actually read or heard the comment made realizes that they were either true or innocuous enough that they shouldn't have garnered any attention. But most people just read the soundbites and don't bother with the facts - we saw how that works right here on these forums.

![]() Say it ain't So ......... too bad it is, conservatives have allowed themselves to be painted in to a corner and defined by the other side, instead of screaming over the drone of the LSM and defining themselves ........
