Faux News: Obama-bashing?

"Fox News' very own anchors are speaking out — and walking off — over what they perceive to be "Obama-bashing" on their network.

This morning on "Fox and Friends," Brian Kilmeade walked off the set after a dispute with his co-hosts Gretchen Carlson (she who celebrates deadly floods) and Steve Doocy over Obama's comment that his grandmother is a "typical white person." Kilmeade argued that the remark needed to be taken in context and eventually got so fed up with his co-hosts that he walked off set.

Later, "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace came on the show and railed against "Fox and Friends" for what he called "Obama-bashing."

This morning, "Fox and Friends" anchor Gretchen Carlson was so excited about the first day of spring that she couldn't contain herself. "Guess what? It's the first day of spring! Yoo-hoo!" Chirped Carlson. "But it's not so great for some people in the country — heavy rains have swollen rivers and streams and across the Midwest - 13 people have lost their lives — we're going to tell you why the worst may be yet to come.

does this say Woo Hoo People are dying in the Midwest ... yeah for the 1st day of spring ....

Kudos to Chris Wallace, Brian Kilmeade, and FNC. Wallace was 100% right when he said that you would never hear a discussion like that on any other network. I think this also shows how more and more we're slipping down that long slope torwards becoming more and more like Democrats.

There was a time when if a CNN show spent the majority of their time talking negatively about Bush, and five minutes about the weather, we would say that the show, hosts, and network suffered from BDS. Now that the target is Obama, and FNC did it, now that five minutes of weather somehow balances the 75 minutes of bashing.

I thought it was great that Wallace called them on what they were doing. I can understand that Doocy has issues with what Obama said, but his job is to report what was said and he wants to comment on it that's fine. But he shouldn't be trying to prove his view and Republicans shouldn't be wanting to hear that BS anymore than when some "news guy" wants to spend hours convincing us that Bush is evil instead of just doing what he's paid to do - report the news!

Cut & Paste. Cut & Paste. But don't watch for yourself.

I watched Fox & Friends this morning before getting ready for work. The 7am crew told what happened on Friday at the beginning of the 7am news show today.

#1 - Doocy explained that Wallace has been trying to get Obama to do an interview for a long time & Obama has been refusing. Then Doocy explained how they had told Wallace (on Friday) they had only done the Obama segment few times when giving the news headlines & were not Obama bashing for 2 hours. Wallace even admitted he had been involved in numerous interviews during that time & didn't watch them for 2 hrs, so he didn't really have the facts anyway.

#2 - Brian did NOT walk off the set, as in "walk off the set" mad or in a huff. It was a JOKE (when he walked off the set) and the other 2 co-hosts knew it was a joke & even referred to it onair that day. (I missed it all on Friday, as well as the
hoopla this weekend, apparently)

And even though F & F presents the news, it's well known that the anchors are given to expressing their own points of view, or opinions or just the opposite point of view for the sake of argument w/ a guest. (as in playing devil's advocate, etc.) It's not a straight line "just the news only" type of show. It never has been that and anyone who tunes in expecting that tpe of show would be disappointed. That said, they always present more than one view.

Morning Joe is much better than FOX and Friends. Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have great on-air chemistry. Add in Willie and Jackie and it's all the news I need before I leave.

On another note, I think Joe and Mika have something going on. Who can blame Joe there?

Eh. I happen to like F & F . Love Brian, love Steve. When I first discovered FNC back in 2001, (I wasn't living in the area at the time) I remembered Steve Doocy from way back when was here with WRC in Washington. It was pretty cool to find him again and I happen to really like & respect his style. He's funny (corny, but I don't care, I like him) not crass, uncouth or mean-spirited. (Not saying Joe is) And I like his points of view.

Morning Joe's very morning friendly although I liked it back when it was merged into the MSNBC LIVE lineup. Something about the show hasn't clicked with viewers though.

I don't know, I like Morning Joe.

FOX and Friends is very ... well ... annoying. It used to be solid back in 2004, 2005. If I wanted to tune in to see a bunch of people hyped up on Starbucks Coffee and Full Throttle Energy Drink shouting and screaming, I'd turn the latest Death Angel CD.

I agree. I like Allison much better than Gretchen. I watch more from 6-7am, than from 7-8am, too.
