I think she makes a good point about people not wanting to be pushed out of their comfort zones. I always got annoyed at having to go to team-building lunches, which were for people to get to know one another, and each subgroup would always migrate to their own table and eat together. What the hell was the point? I would also bet that she doesn't spend much of her time hanging with whitey or hispanics anymore than they like hanging with a majority of blacks.

I believe she's right about folks gravitating, for whatever reason. What I disagree with is "Because sometimes it’s easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions. It makes you feel justified in your own ignorance. That’s America."

While I may have misconceptions about Socialists, and therefore don't hang out with them, I believe it's not out of ignorance. When forced to socialize with these folks, I get violently ill at the ignorance they spew as fact.

Perhaps if Michelle had said "Because sometimes it’s easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions. It makes you feel justified in your own ignorance. That’s the Democratic Party", I'd agree with the statement.

Besides, I don't know the words to kumbaya.

A better one would be "That's the human race."

Michelle Obama has patriotism issues, which is interesting coming from an ivy league educated black woman whose brother is the men's basketball coach at Brown. Not exactly struggling for acceptance and being held back by racism.

Given her bio and resume, I'd like to see a reporter ask her, "Mrs. Obama, can you tell us how exactly you have been held back and discriminated against because you are a black woman?"
