We don’t like being pushed outside of our comfort zones. You know it right here on this campus. You know people sitting at different tables- you all living in different dorms. I was there. You’re not talking to each other, taking advantage that you’re in this diverse community. Because sometimes it’s easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions. It makes you feel justified in your own ignorance. That’s America. So the challenge for us is are we ready for change?

Uh, that doesn't make much sense to me... But if she's going where I think she's going, what is the deal with all this "happy together" crap? Asians hang with Asians and you don't see people busting down their doors and forcing them to eat with Africans if they don't want to.

Separation keeps culture intact.

I dont' see her down here chillin' with Bo and Flugie at the Country Store any time soon.

It's not just race that separates folks. My step-daughter hangs with band geeks and despises jocks.

What's wrong with that? She's right. I mean, I don't know how her hubby being president will change it, but she's right. Except it's not so much stereotypes and misconceptions as it is that people just naturally gravitate toward those that are like themselves.
