Lasting harm feared in Democrats' battle

Some Democratic Party leaders are growing more concerned that the protracted, caustic fight for the presidential nomination will cripple the eventual nominee, and there are new signs they have reason to worry.

A Gallup poll released yesterday indicated that 28 percent of Democrats supporting Clinton said they would vote for McCain over Obama in November, while 19 percent of Obama's backers said they would vote for McCain over Clinton.

Polls suggest that McCain is even or has a narrow lead over both Democrats, and CNN polls also indicate increasing unrest in the Democratic Party. The percentage of Clinton voters who say they would be upset if Obama received the nomination has jumped from 35 percent in January to 51 percent this month, while the percentage of Obama supporters who say they would be upset if Clinton got the nod has risen from 26 percent to 41 percent.

Hillary doesn't care what happens to her party, it's all about HER! It's MY turn to make history!

Remember back to elections past... when the candidates were locked in before Super Tuesday? When there was always a hue and cry about why candidates have to be picked so fast and how later primary states were disenfranchised? And how great it would be to have a real contest where the candidate wasn't picked until the last votes were in? These folks got exactly what they were whining for, and now they're pissing and moaning for the good old days of a quick coronation.

Be careful what you ask for...

I think this is good from a voter standpoint. The candidates are having to work for the votes. The GOP would be in the same spot if they didn't have the winner take all format for awarding delegates.

To quote the venerable Yogi Berra:
"This is Deja Voux all over again"
Seems this is a continuation of the 60's Civil Rights fight that has been glossed over but never really been resolved by the Dems.
Those days were also a watershed for the party as Southern Whites defected in numbers to the Republicans.
Would be interesting to see if this happens again.

The same cannot be said for Obama. He's got a lead that she cannot beat and she knows that. Obama can coast to victory on the high road. Clinton's only hope of winning is to tear Obama to pieces and hope she can gain enough ground to get the super delegates to make a very unpopular decision and overturn the primary results. That's a rather huge difference!

So ... like does that mean on a Left-to-Right-Wing scale McCain falls somewhere between Obama and Clinton?

I wonder which one is righter and lefter.

And yesterday Hillary claimed top Democrats wanted her to quit the race because she was 'winning'.

I've said it before, the Democrat dictum is that "He who controls the vocabulary, wins the argument." She is redefining "winning" just as Bill redefined "sinning."

Wasn't that a quote from Goebels? Something about telling a lie often enough it becomes truth?

Kinda reminds me of a sniper fire story told by my crazy aunt every time I saw her.
