I wonder how many of his "flock" are at or below the poverty line and couldn't even dream of walking up the gate of his new community.

Religion is a business. And its customers are the laity that feed the donation bin. This really should be no surprise to anyone. What it should do is inspire people to make up there own religion and receive all the tax exemptions and private business perks current religious places of worship receive. If all of our houses were places of worship and all of our donations to our religion were tax exempt how much would the government loose in tax income? Cigarette, liquor, gambling, sales, and gas tax would have a lot of ground to make up. Your 20 dollar scratch off ticket would only give you a prize of 50 cents. So next time you go to the polls make sure your vote goes to the guy with a historic theologian background so the free rides can continue. In God We Trust and oh yeah provide tax heavens too.

You'all should take a trip to Clearwater, FL. The Scientologists own most of that town, and don't pay a nickle in taxes. All of the civic costs... cops, schools, roads, etc., are paid for by the residents as very little of the downtown business area pays any taxes despite the fact they are raking in billions.

How many poor people does it take, giving 10%, to make one person rich.. how about a dozen people rich?

1.6 million isnt a lot of money for a home. I would bet Steny Hoyers "little place" on the Patuxent would go for much more than that, and Mike Miller's palace on the Chesapeake Bay near the Rod and Reel gambling hall would also go for much more. Being a politician is quite lucrative.
