I thought the same thing when I read it. I guess we're the only ones who actually read the article)

As for her "having trouble furthuring her political career" - she doesn't WANT a "political" career! She has always said that and, indeed, she didn't even seek the positions she has now. She's perfectly content to go back to her old life after the election.

Those are the reporter's words, not Condi's. As far as I saw, she didn't "hail" his speech at all - she merely commented not unfavorably on it.

I really got a kick out of that line Vrai. Reminded me of when the MSP would do a firearms check and say that someone is "not disapproved" instead of "approved" to buy a firearm because they don't want to be accused of saying they approved of someone haveing a gun.

Yea, that was sorta my jab at how the press inflates hype.

What in the world does that mean?

I think what she was saying is that immigrants are viewed as outsiders who came to this country after it had been established. Black slaves from Africa came over to this country with the same people who founded and developed it, so in her opinion they should be looked upon in the same way as a white guy from England who came over, founded a business, and raised a family in the colonies would be looked at.

Well, that's pretty much what I got out of it - she neither approved nor disapproved the speech.

As far as the "immigrants" comment, it's my impression that "African-Americans" treat and present themselves as immigrants. Condi didn't clarify one way or the other what she meant by that.
